Sarah Pedlow makes textile-based sculpture, mixed media, photographs from daily life and travel, influenced by historical costume, traditional embroidery, and contemporary experience. Her work explores decoration and pattern as language, personal history, and rituals of craft and clothing.

Her study of written embroidery from Transylvania, Romania (through preservation project ThreadWritten Textiles) and residencies in Iceland; Oaxaca, Mexico; and Holland, as well as travel in Ukraine and Portugal influence her current practice.  She holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Rutgers University and a BA from Scripps College, Claremont, CA.  Her work has been exhibited in the US and Europe.
